Motor vehicle accident, Pierpont Rd.

POLICE REPORT: February 2, 2012

On Thursday, February 2, 2012 at approximately 6:42 pm, Dudley Police Officers, as well as Dudley Fire and Emergency medical personnel, responded to a motor vehicle accident on Pierpont Road near the intersection of Hayden Pond Road.  A single vehicle, a 2003 Ford Focus, was involved.  Initial investigation shows the vehicle traveled north on Pierpont Road, it proceeded off the westerly side of the road, and struck a tree.  In addition to the adult male driver, there were three occupants, a 29 year old female front seat passenger and two children rear seat passengers, ages 2 and 8.  The driver was transported to UMass Hospital in Worcester in serious condition.  The female passenger was also transported to UMass hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.  The two children appeared uninjured.  The accident is under investigation by Dudley Police Sergeant Paul Ceppetelli and Officer David Carpenter, members of the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, and the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.  Further information on the accident and investigation, including the names of those involved, will be available in the near future.

UPDATE

February 3, 2012 2 pm

The Dudley Police are releasing the names of two of the individuals involved in the accident mentioned above.  The driver is identified as Tyson Loftus, age 33 with an address of 188 Depot Road Charlton, Ma.  He remains hospitalized in serious condition at UMass Hospital in Worcester.  The front seat passenger is identified as Carly Edgerton, age 29 of 149 Spicer Road, Thompson Connecticut.  She was treated and released.  The two minor passengers, ages 2 and 8, were not injured and they are the children of Mr. Loftus and Ms. Edgerton.  The case remains under investigation at this time.
