Two car collision on Dresser Hill Road

Dudley Police Dept.
Press Release

September 17, 2012
On Monday, September 17th at approximately 7:30 am, Dudley Police as well as Dudley Fire and Emergency Services personnel were dispatched to a two car motor vehicle accident on Dresser Hill Road (Route 31) at the intersection of Leo Avenue.  Upon arrival, officers discovered a 1989 Ford Mustang off the northbound side of the road.  The vehicle appeared to have been traveling in a southerly direction when it collided with a second vehicle, later identified as a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer.  This second vehicle appears to have been in the north bound lane at the time of the crash and may have been exiting Leo Avenue onto Route 31.  After colliding, the Mustang struck a utility pole in that area breaking it off at the base.  The Lancer rolled onto property located at #233 Dresser Hill Road, causing some damage to the lawn and landscaping.  The driver and passenger in the Mustang were transported to UMass Hospital in Worcester with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.  The Driver of the Lancer was also transported to UMass Hospital by Southbridge Ambulance with what appeared to also be non-life threatening injuries.  The cause of the accident is under investigation at this point by Dudley Sergeant Dean Poplawski and Officer David Carpenter, as well as members of the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Unit.  Names of operators and passengers will be available at a later time.

As a result of this accident, Dresser Hill Road (Route 31) will be detoured, between Healy Road and Dudley Southbridge Road, for several hours with travel restrictions in the immediate area.  Power outages will also occur for several hours until the scene is made safe.
