Shepherd Hill Rams vs Tantasqua Warriors
Thanksgiving Day Preview
by Steev Riccardo
Head Football Coach Casey Lindstrom and the Shepherd Hill Rams have had a great season and are looking to put the gravy on it with a Thanksgiving win over rival Tantasqua Thursday morning.
The goal this year for the Rams, according to assistant coach Ryan Dugan when we met in the pre-season, was “to win every game.”
They may not have won them all, but at 7-3 they surely have the attention of the Central Mass football fans. It didn’t hurt that they beat and ended the long streak of the Auburn Rockets on October 7, 32-22.
The Rams also had quality wins over Westboro, Northbridge and rival Bartlett, who they beat handily.
They are a much better team than the Tantasqua Warriors, but it’s Thanksgiving and all the records go out the window.
The Rams will rely on a power running game that has been dominant all year. Senior Cody Peck (3 touchdowns) leads the team with 720 yards rushing and is followed by Brad Picard (7 touchdowns) who rushed for 664 yards and Anthony Wilga (12 touchdowns) who tallied 648 yards rushing.
The coaches will tell you, and it’s easy to see that the Ram’s offensive line has been the key. If they control the line of scrimmage, it should be an easy victory.
This game is also a very important game for the Rams in terms of playoff positioning. A win should lock them in with a spot in the Division 2 playoffs.
