Selectman Caissie will not pursue Kerry seat

OXFORD- Selectman Jennie L. Caissie officially announced today that she will not be pursing the senate seat recently vacated by new Secretary of State John Kerry.
“I always thought politics was my first love, but then I saw my baby girl’s face,” Caissie said Tuesday.
Speculation about Caissie’s possible bid arose last week when she was spotted at the State House.
At the time, Caissie said that she was “seriously considering” running.
Caissie, though, clarified that she was at the State House for a meeting of the Governor’s Council of which she is the only Republican member serving her second term.
“I’m not ruling out any future runs on the state level,” Caissie said adding that this one day may be a senate bid.
Caissie, whose daughter is only four months old, said that she would consider any future runs with caution.
“If you are going to undergo this kind of endeavor you need to consider your family,” she said, adding, “I don’t want to miss any of those special moments that you can never get back.”
Currently other announced senatorial hopefuls include Rep. Dan Winslow, Gabriel Gomez and Congressmen Ed Markey and Steve Lynch.
For the short time that Caissie was weighing the option of running for the Senate, she said that she had a wave of well wishers.
“The outpouring of support is very humbling,” Caissie said.
