Dawidczyk, Worters, shine at SWCL meet

Shepherd Hill boy’s team event

FISKDALE – Oxford high school senior Emily Dawidczyk and Shepherd Hill junior Stella Worters both continued their Indoor track dominance at the Southern Worcester County League championship meet at Tantasqua Regional on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Dawidczyk won both the 55-meter hurdles and the 55-meter dash and also came in third place in the shot put.  In the process of winning both the 55-meter hurdles and the 55-meter dash, she broke SWCL records in both, in a masterful performance.



Not to be outdone, Worters won the one-mile run and the 1000-meter run, in which she also broke the SWCL record in.

The Shepherd Hill boys team finished first in the SWCL team standings thanks to excellent efforts across the board from several members of its team.

Shepherd Hill junior Elijah Fossas won the boys two-mile run and also came in second place in the 600-meter run. His teammate Jacob Grotton came in second in both the 55-meter hurdles and the 55-meter dash.

The Shepherd Hill’s 4x800-meter relay team of junior Congke Li, junior Jason Bangs, sophomore Patrick Kobel and junior Brendon Pratt emerged victorious to top off a great day for the Rams.

In other boys’ action, Oxford’s Nick Rivelli came in fifth place in the boys’ shot put, while Bartlett junior Jeremy Guyette came in third in the 1000-meter run.

The Shepherd Hill girls team finished second overall in team competition and had a host of great performances.

 

Lucy Harmon came in second in the two-mile run and third in the 1000-meter run.  Haley Chamberlin came in third in the girls two-mile run and fifth in the 600-meter run. Shepherd Hill junior Emily Thibaud came in third place in the 600meter run and senior Katie McCambridge came in fifth place in the shot put.

Bartlett eighth grader Leah Dunbar came in ninth place in the 1-mile run in a nice effort.
