Three from R.I. arrested on multiple charges
WEBSTER - On Sunday, January 2, 2012 Webster Police Officer Bruce Hamm noticed a white SUV in front of him bearing Massachusetts registration plate 99ZG13. Officer Hamm ran a check on this plate as he was aware that the Dudley Police had just reported a suspicious white SUV in their town checking residences. A check of the registration plate indicated that the vehicle was stolen out of Franklin, Mass.
Based on this response Officer Hamm attempted to stop the vehicle on Negus Street. The vehicle failed to stop and pursuit began. The vehicle failed to stop and proceeded up Lake Street onto Birch Island Road, which is a dead end. The occupants then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A perimeter was set-up with Webster Police Officers Robert Larochelle, Officer John Nedoroscik and Sergeant Thomas Ralph. Assistance was requested from the Massachusetts State Police Sturbridge for perimeter coverage to secure the area of I-395 Northbound in the vicinity of Exit One and the Birch Island overpass.
Webster Police K-9 Officer Aaron Suss responded to the scene with his dog "Radar" and a track was conducted. The Webster Police K-9 proceeded to track and force the suspects towards I-395, eventually flushing the three subjects out of the marsh area where they were apprehended at gun point by Massachusetts State Police Trooper DeJesus in the rear of the Treasure Island Condominiums.
A search of the stolen vehicle produced burglarious tools, a large Sentry safe, which was damaged from an attempted entry and a pillow case with jewelry and money. After an investigation Webster Police determined that the safe and related items were associated with a house break in Dudley on Healy Road. Dudley Police responded to the scene and are processing the break.
