Alphonse J. Kozub, 97

WEBSTER - Alphonse J. Kozub, 97, of Webster, died Monday, January 2, 2012 in Lanessa Extended Care after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 70 years, Alice B. (Nadolski) Kozub; 2 daughters, Janice M. Kokernak of Webster and Nancy A. Cheever and her husband Francis of Oxford; 4 grandchildren, Scott Kokernak, Kim Kokernak, Christine Walker and Jeffrey Jarosz; 4 great grandchildren, Alexandra, Brooke, Alexis and Elizabeth; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and a brother, and by his son-in-law James B. Kokernak.

He was born in Webster, a son of John and Mary (Czernicki) Kozub and was a lifelong resident. He attended Saint Joseph Elementary School and Webster Trade School. Mr. Kozub worked as a loom fixer and weaver at American Woolen Company, at Packard Mills and at Anglo Fabrics Company before he retired in 1981.

He was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica and its Sacred Heart Society. He delivered newspapers in his youth. A handyman, he was a jack of all trades and master of several. He was an ardent fisherman and enjoyed watching sports.

 The funeral will be held Friday, January 6, 2012, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. A calling hour will be from 8:15 to 9:15 AM Friday in the funeral home.
