Anna F. Dugas, 45

Anna F. Dugas of Webster, died Thursday, December 22, 2011, at home after an illness.

She leaves her parents, Adolphe E. and Emily E. (Kokocinski) Dugas; 4 siblings, Susanne T. Duszlak and her husband Stanley of Webster, Mary F. Fura of Charlton, John A. Dugas of Las Vegas, and Elizabeth Duffy and her husband Robert of Prides Crossing, MA; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was born and raised in Webster. She graduated from the Pomfret School and graduated from American University in Washington, DC. She earned a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice 
from John Jay College in New York. She lived in Washington, New York, and Cambridge before moving back to Webster about 5 years ago.

After graduation, Ms. Dugas was employed by U. S. Representative Richard Neal. After leaving Washington, she worked as a probation officer for the federal government in New York City. She next was employed by a Lutheran agency as an advocate for children.

She was an experienced world traveler, visiting most of the continents. Her adventures included hiking in the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal and survival-at-sea voyages. After returning to Webster, she became an advocate for unwanted animals, adopting several.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2012,from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A calling period will be from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 4, in the funeral home.

Donations in her name may be made either to Saint Anne’s Elementary School, 12 Day St., PO Box 818, or to Community Cat Connection, PO Box 724, both in Webster, MA 01570.
