Barbara T. (Goodwin) Shultz, 79

OXFORD – Barbara T. (Goodwin) Shultz, 79, of Fort Hill Road, died Monday, December 31, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.  She was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Edward J. Shultz Sr. of Oxford, who died in 1982.  She is survived by eight children, Debra A. Corey and her husband Dennis of Oxford, Edward J. Shultz Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Oxford, Susan M. Gallant and her husband Michael of Oxford, Karen B. Ladd and her husband Kent of Lakeview Plantation, ME, Nancy T. Roycewicz and her husband Joseph of Oxford, Peter S. Shultz of Oxford, Paul C. Shultz and his wife Liisa of Oxford, and the daughter with whom she lived,  Melissa L. Shultz and her companion Ramon Aponte; 12 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 4 step grandsons, 6 great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by a son, Stephen P. Shultz of Oxford who died in 1964; two sisters, Patricia Clemmer and Judith Patnod; and her longtime companion, Joseph Fusco who died in 2007.  She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Clarence and Evelyn (Dunn) Goodwin, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1956.  She graduated from Ascension High School in Worcester in 1950.

Barbara's 17-year employment with Tri-Valley Elder Services brought her great joy. Previously, she was a bookkeeper for LaBonte’s Grocery Store in Oxford, and had also worked at Sweet Life in Northboro for several years.  She was a member of the Council on Aging.   She enjoyed traveling, her special trips to Foxwoods, and especially loved spending time with her family and friends.  Barbara was a fantastic cook and loved Sunday dinners with her family.  Barbara loved spending summertime outdoors and flower gardening.  She took a special interest in everyone she met and was loved by all who knew her.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013, from Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford.  Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.  Calling hours are Thursday, January 3, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence, 1183 Main St., Worcester, MA  01603, or to Boston Children’s Hospital, c/o Pediatric Cardiac Unit, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115.  paradisfuneralhome.com
