Bernice V. Christian, 93

OXFORD – Bernice V. (Smolenski) Christian, 93, of Rocky Hill Road, died Monday, March 26, 2012, in her home. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Rodier of Granby, Colorado; two sisters, Victoria Robert of Danville, Virginia, and Dolores Lyons of Oxford; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, David W. Christian who died in 1988; her son, David A. Christian who died in 1961; and six sisters and brothers, Cecelia Millette who died in 1995, Lucille DuBois who died in 1989, Steven Smolenski who died in 2002, Joseph Smolenski who died in 1986, Henry Smolenski who died in 1997, and Edmund Smolenski who died in 2001. She was born in Webster, the daughter of the late Adolf and Michalena (Kwiatkowski) Smolenski, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford.

Mrs. Christian worked at A.E. Jewell Co. in Worcester, retiring many years ago. She was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford. She enjoyed gardening, making crafts, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery, Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
