DUDLEY – Harold A. Desautels, 88, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in the Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester after a brief illness.

He leaves a sister, Elinor M. Deary of Dudley; 9 nephews and nieces and 8 grandnephews and grandnieces.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Alfred G. Desautels.

He was born in Dudley, a son of Alfred L. and Gertrude T. (Kane) Desautels and was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Bartlett High School class of 1942.  He received his Bachelor of Business degree from Worcester Junior College in 1964.

Mr. Desautels worked at the American Optical Company in Southbridge for over 47 years, retiring in 1989 as a supervisor.  He was a firefighter with the Quinebaug Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years.  He was a member of Saint Stephen’s Church in Quinebaug, CT.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 19, in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, North Grosvenordale, CT.
