Quinebaug CT - John C. Powell, 44 died Sunday, June 24,2012 in Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, CT after being stricken ill at work .

He leaves his fianceé and best friend Kathleen “Kay” Caplette, her two daughters whom he helped raise: Jade Flynn and Kayla Flynn all of Quinebaug, CT. He also leaves his father Walter Powell and his wife Dorothy of Fairfield Maine .one brother: Ronald Perkins of RI one sister: Joy Barrette of RI .Several nieces & nephews. Kay ‘s parents Leo and Mary Caplette of Dudley .

He was born in Pascoag, RI, the son of Walter Powell and the late Sandra (Guptill) Powell. He graduated from Kennebec Valley Christian High school in Waterville Maine.

He was proud of hard work and enjoyed the past 7 years as a Stockman and Backroom Associate at the Putnam Walmart . John was an avid outdoorsman . He enjoyed hunting and fishing . He was an enthusiastic fan of NASCAR following Dale Earnhardt Sr. & Dale Earnhardt JR.

Johns final act was to give the gift of life through tissue donation.

Memorial Mass to celebrate Johns Life will be held Monday, July 2 ,2012 at 10 AM in St. Stephens Church, Corner Of Route 197 & 131, Quinebaug Ct..
