Pomfret – Joseph J. Lyon, age 75, of Mashamoquet Road, died Sunday, February 26, 2012, at UMASS Memorial Health Care in Worcester. He leaves his wife, Bernice N. (Brown) Lyon; a son, Michael of Michigan; a daughter, Cheryl; a sister, Jean Maud Lyon of Charlton; two granddaughters. He was born in Webster, son of the late Paul and Dorothy (Donovan) Lyon and lived in Pomfret for the past twenty years. He was a member of the Nipmuck Indian Tribe and was a retired Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Army National Guard, Company B, 181st Engineering Battalion in Webster, Massachusetts. There are no calling hours. Services and burial are private. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster is directing arrangements.
